Who is Tesla Knight Productions

Jake Bissen | Founder of Tesla Knight Productions, LLC

Jake has always had an interest in making and engineering, although his interests would vary widely and change often. He's built everything from Medieval Armour and neon signage to films and film props.

In 2013, Jake began attending film school where he could combine his passion for making and engineering, primarily focusing on special effects, props, and custom camera rigs. During these years, he discovered the Milwaukee Makerspace which gave him the opportunity to use tools and resources to further expand his knowledge.

In 2015, while at Maker Faire Milwaukee showcasing his full suit of plate armour, Jake met a group of makers doing tesla coil demonstrations. What started as a joke from his dad (“Hey I wonder if you could walk in the lightning with your suit on”), turned into him being wired up and walking in lightning that very same day. To this day, Jake is the only known person to walk in lighting in a full suit of Medieval plate armour. This kicked off the Tesla Knight Show for the following years at the Makerfaire.

Outside of Tesla Coil and Film work Jake has spent a lot of time working with artists making custom furniture and sculpture pieces. This has coincided directly with Jakes heavy involvement int he Milwaukee Makerspace, a non profit membership workshop. He has served on the board of directors as well as help build, outfit, and teach members on a significant portion of the tools and equipment in the makerspace.

When he's not walking in lightning or making neon signs, Jake lives in the Milwaukee area with his girlfriend and their cat.
